Mr Gabriel Ashe, Executive Secretary of the foundation, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry that the items were to cushion the effect of the restriction of movement by the government occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Ashe, the NGO deems it fit to donate food items to the widows in view of their plight at this time of need.

“The food items include rice, beans, semovita, wheat, groundnut oil, and tomato pastes.

“We decided to start the gesture from Ajara Vetho community because the founder of the NGO is from the community. They say, charity begins at home.

“We have identified more than 100 widows living in the community and the foundation has been going from house to house to distribute the food package.

“The foundation has been to Hungbo, Whepade, Ganhon, Zodoganhun and Eseme quarters in Ajara Vetho community,” he said.

Ashe promised that the foundation would also reach other communities in Badagry soon.
